Everything has changed.  Nothing has changed!

We are experiencing something that no other generation has experienced before.

Sure, some aspects may be familiar.

Previous recessions have had similar aspects around the lack of money flowing around – or at least the lack of desire to spend it.

The Second World War taught an entire generation to survive on restricted food and income and appreciate the importance of community spirit.

However, never has anything had such a dramatic, far-reaching and rapid impact on what we would call ‘normal behaviour’.

However, it is very important to realise that whilst everything has changed so dramatically, the basic rules of business still apply.

In that sense, nothing has changed.

Every business has always needed to adapt and shift with the environment. Any business that didn’t isn’t here any more. Sure, it’s been a faster and bigger shift than usual, but that just means that reactions have to be quicker.

When you break it down, a business is nothing more than the systematic application of a solution to a problem.

As those problems shift, so the solutions have to shift.

It may be that you need to tweak your business strategy a bit. Or you may have to set up a completely new business – doing something totally different from before.

Sound scary? Well, you’ve done it before, so you can do it again.

Pay attention to what’s going on, look out for what problems people have. Then think about how you can help them.

Remember that things may move fast, so you may have to keep flexing as different problems arise in society and different solutions need to be applied.

However, in principle, nothing has changed.

If you’re interested, a few years ago I created a Business Cheat Sheet – everything you need to know about business on one side of A4. It’s completely free to be downloaded from my website – I don’t even ask you for your email address.  Just click on https://www.businessenjoyment.com/business-is-simple and scroll down – it’s there for anyone to download.

Everything on there was true last month and will stay true next month, and the month after that.

All you have to do is work out how to apply it.

Finding the perspective and ‘distance’ to appreciate that nothing has changed can be hard – seek out expert support and coaching to help you on your journey.
