Here at Yorkshire Powerhouse, we believe in the value of studying other successful businesses and organisations to allow you to develop new ideas and strategies that could benefit your own business. We keep these case studies snappy and easy to access to allow you to rapidly gather the relevant information:

When did the business start trading:

September 2006

Who started the business:

Neil Grimshaw

Tell us what you do and how you do it:

We are Chartered Independent Insurance Brokers, we pride ourselves in providing bespoke and tailor-made advice to clients throughout the UK. Our award-winning team ensure that our clients understand the process, their demands and needs and have the right product to protect them and their assets. We protect what people have worked hard to achieve.

As Chartered Independent Insurance Brokers, we are one of only a handful of brokers awarded Chartered status by the Chartered Insurance Institute: the gold standard of insurance professionalism.

As commercial insurance experts, we have access to the UK’s leading insurance markets to provide clients with bespoke solutions to your requirements. Our products and services reflect the advice we give and the expertise we have to ensure that clients get the best value from their insurance spend.

Who buys your product / service:

We look after businesses and enterprises of all shapes and sizes, we also look after individuals own personal insurance requirements.

What makes your business stand out from your competitors:

Our service, we provide a traditional, advice led, personal service where clients can build relationships with their team. We also have a specialist claims team who will work hard to remove the admin from clients and ensure they have a professional team working in their best interests to get the right outcome for them.

What is the main strength of your business:

Our flexibility, service and responsiveness – our main strength is our staff who are highly trained and exceptional insurance professionals.

What are the values that drive your business:

Honesty, integrity and the desire to provide peace of mind for our clients by protecting them and their assets.

What’s your favourite business book and why:

The Five Dysfunctions of a Team – Patrick Lencioni – it’s a great book, which is more like a story, it demonstrates behaviours and actions to look out for when building the right team.

What is the most useful lesson you’ve learned through experience:

Delegating – it has taken me a while and I’m still not brilliant, but having faith in others, you are not the only one capable of doing what you do, and if you are, then you need to make those around you capable or surround yourself with capable people.

What is the main mistake to avoid in future:

Complacency – when your business is doing well its easy to get carried away, ensure you are frugal, and you control costs in the same way you did when you started out.

Which business success are you most proud of:

Growing Ravenhall with my business partner and being nominated for the Broker of the Year 2020 at the British Insurance Awards, fingers crossed we win!

What are your future ambitions:

To keep learning, and growing as a person. From a business perspective, to realise the potential of Ravenhall.

Accidents do happen – holding the correct insurance protects your business.
