In a nutshell, we help business owners and leaders to grow and develop both themselves and their business. We provide coaching, usually on a 1-1 basis and we train both leaders and their teams to be highly effective by recognising, harnessing and using the unique skills of all team members.
We’re qualified in coaching, training and facilitating and use a variety of tools and models which we flex to the needs of the person or organisation.
Who buys your product / service:
Our main customers are small business owners. The type of business is much less important than the type of owner. Typically, our clients want to be great leaders, they want to achieve success and own their own development. They see the value of “playing the long game”, i.e. having long-term as well as short-term ambitions for their business. They’re usually keen to grow and expand and want to ensure their business complements what they want from life in general.
What makes your business stand out from your competitors:
Our combined experience of around 60 years in leadership roles, as well as receiving intensive training in both private and public sector positions, ensure we really “get” the needs of the individual and their business. We don’t work to a formula, but we design a bespoke framework for each client to maximise their growth potential.
What are the main strength/s of your business:
Our experience combined with the fact that we have two qualified coaches and trainers, male and female. We do some work separately, some work together, which means we can be more flexible and are likely to be able to provide what clients are looking for in terms of both skillset and personality.
What are the values that drive your business:
We believe that no-one should have a bad day at work. We also believe that learning should be fun, exciting and memorable and we design our training and coaching packages to reflect these values.
Which business success are you most proud of:
Seeing some of our clients make amazing progress, achieve goals they never really thought were possible and become much better leaders and, often better people, too!
What’s your favourite business book and why:
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. It’s a book designed to enhance a person’s life, as well as their business and practising each habit is another step towards true effectiveness. It’s a book we quote almost on a daily basis. “Be Proactive”, “Begin with the End in Mind” and “Put First Things First” are brilliant pieces of advice…and they’re just the first three chapter headings!
What is the most useful lesson you’ve learned through experience:
Essentially, people don’t care what you call yourself or even what you say you do. They only want to know if you can help. So, we’ve built our business spending time with people to understand if either we can help or point them in the right direction. This means we have and continue to give a lot of our time for free, but we’ve learned that this benefits in the long-term through an enhanced reputation, trust and credibility.
What is the main mistake to avoid in future:
We’ve learned that if we want to work on a longer-term basis with clients (which tends to be the most rewarding work) we need to look for people who share our values and philosophies in business, rather than working with clients who just want to grow their income. These clients take longer to find, but the relationships we have with these clients make the extra time and effort so much more rewarding.
What are your future ambitions:
To continue to expand our client base and also work with an even wider pool of talented associate trainers where we contract with larger organisations.
